What are You Investing In?

For those of you who tend to watch the ‘financial markets,’ you are always looking for the most productive places to invest your financial resources.  Obviously you want to get the ‘biggest bang for your buck’ that you can.  Nobody wants to waste their resources.  The same principle works in other areas of our lives.  We all have other resources we can invest: time, abilities, passions, expertise, and as mentioned before, our finances.

In relation to Quest, this local expression of the body of Christ that sits on the western edge of metro-St. Louis, the question is ‘how are you investing’ your time, abilities, passions, expertise and finances?  I want to be careful to not appeal to you from shame and guilt.  That is not my motivation at all. In fact, I probably resist addressing ‘stewardship’ in an effort to not risk being misunderstood as to my motivation.  Unfortunately, by resisting, I simply avoid my personal discomfort at the expense of helping you be healthier in your personal ‘stewardship’ before the Lord.

In a modest sized church like Quest, we purposefully have designed our building and our staffing to match in modesty.  What that means is that the building and the staff are not designed to accomplish everything in the ministry.  Much of our ministry has to happen off campus, away from the property at 17126 Manchester Road, Wildwood, MO, 63040.  The ministry has to happen in our homes, in a local coffee shop (we are so thankful for The Wolf that has hosted us for 6 years now), in local parks, etc.  Not only that, but our staff has been limited so that every person is needed to accomplish the work of Christ among us and in our community.  The leadership at Quest is supposed to equip every person for the work of ministry, not do it all themselves.  Everyone is needed.  Every part of the body is important for the healthy functioning of the whole.

Obviously, every church needs the fair share of finances in order to function.  That is true for Quest also.  But we want you to know that we don’t want your money, we want you.  We need you.  You are important to the functioning of the whole.  So… therefore… what now?  What can you invest in the ministry?  Where is the Lord calling you to get connected and involved?  Where might you test your abilities and passions to see what God might have for you?  Where could you be a servant?  What could you do to touch needs in the lives of others?  What is on your heart?  What is either unique about you or maybe you are a warm body who is willing to meet any need whether you are a perfect fit or not?

So what are you going to do?  We would love to be a resource to help you along the way.  Let us know.  Call us, visit us and we will be glad to help.

Yours,
Kevin Hughes

As an older woman I feel I am so very limited as to how or where I can be of service for the Lord anywhere anymore YET the desire of my Heart IS to “Glorify Him” I feel one thing we are missing out on in our Personal lives is living “The Word” as God has laid IT our for us . Having lived these over 80 yrs. I can assure YOU life has NO short cuts . though we at least many even most try to find one . instead of Knowing His Word and Living “IT” sooo all that said . I want so to be an encourager – yet I feel I fall short of that with the lack of tact I have and so work at improving on
