Can you think of anything more boring, and maybe even more antiquated, than a church business meeting? For some people, their first thought is “who cares”. And others think it would be “a waste of time”. Still others begin to sharpen their battle swords for an opportunity to espouse their long held frustrations and to prove their superior thinking. Then there are people who are sickened by the seeming violation that a spiritual institution would corrupt itself by doing “business.”
I understand everyone of these thoughts and, in fact, relate to each of them to some degree. However, our heart at Quest is to avoid boring and antiquated by being relevant, to exhibit care by being transparent, to value your time by honestly hearing your thoughts and concerns and to reject division by pursuing God’s will together.
The leadership at Quest understands that our role is to be servant-leaders. We are supposed to bring to bear the Word of God and to hear the heart of those in the congregation concerning the past, the present, and the future of Quest and its role in the lives of people in our faith community as well as the community at large.
Therefore, we invite every person to join us at one of the two Town Hall Meetings (August 4th at 6:30 pm, or August 5th at 7:00 pm) for an informal discussion concerning the various dynamics at Quest and anything you might want to bring to the table. These meeting are designed to have open interaction so that when we get to the official Business Meeting on Sunday August 18th (10 am our regular worship service time), we can joyfully celebrate what God has done, what He is doing and where He is leading us.
I would encourage each of you to participate in both the Town Hall Meeting and the Business Meeting because the body of Christ does better together than isolated from one another. You matter, you are needed. I hope to see you in August!
Be well,
Kevin
