This Sunday will be important as we continue to solidify the three dimensions of becoming an official Evangelical Free Church in the Central District. In an effort to ‘shoehorn’ everything into a limited time frame we probably needed a few more weeks……which is exactly what we have done as we delayed the ‘congregational vote’ from January 11th to this Sunday, January 25th.
So, this is what you can expect:
The last section of our service will be reserved for written ballot to be filled out. That ballot is to be used by those who have decided to become members at this point. I know there are a few of you who intended to become members at this point but it just didn’t work out. We will give you an opportunity to attend a membership class in the near future, but unfortunately you will not be able to vote quite yet.
The ballot will have three parts:
1. Affirmation of members– without having official Elders we will trust the proposed members to affirm one another by a 3/4 vote of agreement.
2. Ratify the Constitution and Bylaws by a 3/4 vote of the members (who had just been affirmed by the body),
3. Election of Elders– there are seven men proposed as Elders. They have been through an almost 9 month process of study, prayer, self-evaluation, peer evaluation, and surrendering to the Lord. We started the process with 16 men and with time the Lord narrowed down the number to these 7. Each will be voted on individually or you can vote affirmatively for the group as a whole at one time.
Application finalized with your signature:
The application for becoming an official EFCA church is sealed with the signatures of at least four leaders. However, we want every available member to sign the application. Therefore, as we dismiss there will be sheets for you to sign announcing your commitment to join together in seeking the Lord’s will of being a part of Quest, the Central District, the EFCA, and a body of believers who aim to honor God with our united lives.
