The last two years, we’ve sent teams to Houston to help partner with families devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Rather than going in and helping broadly with surface clean up (which there’s nothing wrong with, by the way), what Crisis Response does is a little different. The ministry partners with individuals/families in need of help and digs in and STAYS connected for several years to come to make sure that their pieces are being picked up over the long haul, not just in the beginning.
So, all that said, we’re sending a team again this year. We have a few folks already signed up, but we could use a few more people. No matter your skill level, we can use you. The team is heading down to Houston from October 20th-26th this year. We’ll be driving, so with travel expenses and a donation to the program, it’ll probably cost you about $500. You don’t need to pay that upfront, we’re just asking for a $25 deposit to reserve your space. If you’re thinking about going, please sign up at the Ministry table by the end of the month so we can start making arrangements for the team.
