Quest: a Church in and for the Community

image002

Quest desires to be a church in and for the community… sharing the Hope of Christ while serving it. Answering God’s call to be in and for community takes on many forms through various ministries and unique events. One such opportunity is Serve St. Louis. One weekend in October, churches throughout St. Louis unite in a single weekend with practical acts of service to the metro area. The goal is to make the metro area a better place to live and bring honor to the name of Jesus.

The other day I was meeting with Ken Price, who leads the Serve St. Louis ministry team for Quest. We took a minute to reflect on all that God has done through the 13 service projects Quest has coordinated over the last 2 years. Through those projects, the elderly, widowed, impoverished and military were shown love and kindness through the acts of service by the volunteer teams. On just one project, we had over 60 volunteers from multiple churches and communities, including a group from a high school in south county. We were so thankful to God for the opportunity to share the Hope of Christ while serving the community.

Well, it is time to start planning for Serve St. Louis 2015!  Save the date: October 10th & 11th, 2015.  Ken and the Serve St. Louis ministry team are looking for people join the planning committee. The team will prayerfully consider projects that God is calling us to. Once the projects are decided on, there are many details that have to be coordinated and completed. This is a great opportunity to use the gifts that God has given you, to come along side and serve with fellow Questers and to help Quest continue to be a church in and for the community. Please pray about getting involved and if you are interested, contact Ken Price.

Peace,
Steve
