Christmas time is always a great time to make sure that the community knows our doors are open to them and they’re welcome. To help encourage folks to stop by, we’re doing a couple of things that we wanted to make sure you knew about.
You’ve been hearing about The Grinch movie night that will be happening Friday, December 6th from 6-9pm. We’ve been doing movie nights for the last couple of Christmases, but this one is a little different. We are offering an hour of fun before the movie even starts to give kids and families a chance to grab a slice of pizza, do some crafts and games and maybe even get a chance to meet Santa if he can work us into his busy schedule. Then, a little after 7pm, we’ll move everyone upstairs to start the movie.
The goal of this movie night is to get the community around us to attend. We can’t do this alone, so we need your help! If you have friends to invite, please invite them. You can share the event from our Facebook page or grab some fliers from the ministry table to use as invitations. If you’re free that night and would like to help, please sign up on Sunday morning. Everything we do is a team effort, and this is an amazing chance to engage the community around us in a way that blesses kids and families and hopefully draws them a little nearer to a God that loves them deeply.
Another way that we’re getting our name out in the community is through Wildwood Snowman Search. You may remember that we did this last year and had our own donut clad snowman in front of the building starting from Small Business Saturday through to the end of December. People were encouraged to go around to different participating Wildwood businesses and take “selfies” with each different snowman and enter those pictures into a drawing for major cash prizes.
This seemed like a no-brainer to have Quest participate again, so people from all over will be trying to find our snowman (which will be hanging on the front door of the church). Maybe they know we’re here, but maybe they don’t and they learn of a new area church through this snowy adventure. We encourage you to participate, to seek out businesses around Wildwood, get to know some other folks in the community and hey, maybe you’ll win the grand prize! Quest is merely taking part in this, so please check out Wildwood’s website for all the rules and list of participating businesses.
While sharing the gospel is our priority, it’s really hard to do that without having first created some sort of relationship. No, these events are not gospel centered, but they are helping to show Quest as a people and a place that cares for the community. As Kevin has been saying… we need to do good works to create good will so we can share the good news.
