This coming Sunday is the National Sanctity of Human Life Day. On this day people all across America come together to pray for unborn, to defend the unborn, and to speak out against abortion. In 2008, President George W. Bush stated it this way “On National Sanctity of Human Life Day, we recognize that each life has inherent dignity and matchless value, and we reaffirm our steadfast determination to defend the weakest and most vulnerable members of our society”. So, why does the unborn life or any life for that matter have “matchless value”? The answer is that Life is sacred because God made it for His purpose.
The Bible tells us that life was created by God. We were created by Him and in His own image (Gen 1:27). Also, the Bible tells us that life is valued by God. He loves us with an everlasting love (Jer 31:3), we are inscribed on the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16) and in the womb He knew us by name (Isaiah 49:1). So, if God, for His purpose created life and values life, then what can we do for the unborn? What should we do for unborn? We can pray, we can support pro-life legislation and pro-life candidates, and we can support pro-life organizations. Here at Quest we have partnered with such an organization called Thrive St. Louis. Thrive St. Louis through their staff, volunteers, and programs come along side women and families with unplanned pregnancies to help with their pregnancy and help them choose life for their unborn child.
This week we are starting a “Baby Shower” collection. The items collected will supply the Thrive store were moms and expecting moms can go and use “Thrive” bucks to buy things they need or will need for their new born. They earn bucks through taking a variety of training classes at Thrive.
Please scroll down the newsletter for all the “Baby Shower” collection details. If you would like more information about the collection or volunteer opportunities, then contact Melissa Lay.
God Bless,
Steve
