Hey Quest! We have a lot of things happening and we could really use your help with it soooo here goes…
This Saturday is a two-fer day of getting your hands dirty. New City Fellowship is a ministry that Quest has partnered with for many years. We take part in their workdays that happen every second Saturday of the month. These workdays mainly consist of helping a few widows or disabled folks in the New City community. Helping looks different each month because needs shift and change… sometimes it’s fixing something in a home, sometimes it’s building a wheelchair ramp, sometimes it’s yard work… but what is ALWAYS is, is worthwhile and a blessing to people.
We sort of double booked with New City’s workday, which was unintentional since we were at the mercy of the mulch delivery to Quest… but that same day, this Saturday, we’re having yards and yards of mulch delivered to Quest that we need to get spread into the flower beds around the property. We really want to get this place looking sharp for Easter, so if you’d like to come help with that, we’ll be here at 9am slinging mulch. We don’t have enough wheelbarrows or shovels for everyone, so if you have those tools that you could bring with you, that would be a HUGE help.
We need to get that mulch pile out of the parking lot by Sunday so we don’t lose any more parking spots for service. Why does that matter? Our numbers are growing! Which is super awesome and exciting to see. We’ve loved seeing so many people on Sundays, but with people comes cars and you know as well as I do that the parking lot has always been a little too small for this building. So, to help remedy that, we’ve worked it out with Pond Elementary that they’ll let us park some cars in their lot on Sunday mornings and we’ll use our trusty shuttle to get folks back and forth. Yes, it’s an extra step, but it’s only a few extra minutes of time so we can help leave more spots available for our visitiors, young families and older folks that may have a harder time getting in and out of the shuttle – Especially on Easter! But seriously, Pond is so kind to let us do this… it’s been a good partnership that we’re so grateful for.
Kelly Moore has spearheaded our relationship with the local schools and they’ve really grown to rely on us for help and encouragement. Pond has asked if we could help provide some volunteers for their school carnival coming up on April 23rd. In the past, we’ve taken money in the cafeteria when families come in to eat. It’s a simple way to get facetime with the community, build relationships and be an encouragement to these families getting to spend some precious time together.
It’s so amazing that we get to be this involved with the St. Louis community. The church IS it’s people… not the building, so let’s get this church on the move! Not to mention, it’s a great time to be together and build relationships WITHIN the church as well. If you’d like to help out with any of these opportunities, you can find the contact info for the team leads on the event page on our website. Would you consider helping us spread some love and some hope and maybe some mulch this spring?
