In the coming days the gospel will be most clearly and powerfully communicated through us living out our faith with mature Christ-like character. Actions really do speak louder than words. Words without character are simply empty and hollow.
In these last few weeks, before we move over to the new property, I want to focus on our maturity and what qualities we will need to make a long lasting impact in our community. Peter outlined the qualities that added to our faith will make us useful, fruitful and stable (II Peter 1:1-15). He describes the qualities of maturity. He outlines what it looks like to be Christ-like without being Christ Himself. He describes the Spirit-filled life without using those terms. He paints a picture for us of growing into who and what God created us for.
This week, we will look at four qualities or characteristics that, when embraced, will make a huge difference in our lives, both privately and publicly. The problem is that these qualities do not come easily. They are not automatic nor simple. They come with hard personal work on the inside of our souls. The reason they are so hard is that will be fighting back against the broken places in our lives. The impact of sin has scarred the most important dimensions of our lives. So, we will look at these areas and move toward maturity.
I look forward to being with you.
Your bro,
Kevin
