Now that we have ‘planted’ our congregation in Wildwood, we continue to take steps to effectively engage and connect to this community. We have been working with the schools in our area, as well as the various pieces of the First Responders. In a few weeks (August 25th), we are taking another important step in connecting with the city by participating on that Saturday that they call Celebrate Wildwood. Back in September of 1995, the citizens of West County voted to create a new city out of the various small communities in this area. Wildwood is now one of the largest geographical cities in Missouri, with a modest population of approximately 65,000 residents… and growing! [as you can tell with the housing construction just north of our building] The various adjacent and nearby communities of Ellisville, Eureka, Chesterfield, Ballwin, Pacific and even Washington, put us in a great location to have an impact on our neighbors. Therefore, joining Celebrate Wildwood is totally consistent with our desire to be ‘a people in and for the community’.
We are excited that a dozen or so of you have volunteered to work at the booth we will have set up during Celebrate Wildwood. The rest of you are encouraged to participate in the activities of the celebration. There will be booths, food, concerts, parades, balloons, prizes and much more. Come by the booth and hang out for a while. Those in the crowd are our neighbors and this is a great chance to get to know them.
