Using the gifts that God gave us is an amazing feeling. We were created with certain skills and abilities that are unique to us. Some people are incredible musicians, some people have the amazing gift of service, some have the ability to cultivate life in a garden, some can organize a room like nobody’s business, some are fabulously athletic, the list goes on and on and on… right now we have an opportunity for our more artistically inclined Questers.
This Easter, charcoal will play a big role in our theme. Instead of having one person crank out a ton of drawings, we wanted to open this church-wide. Is there a aspect of Easter that is particularly meaningful to you? An idea, specific passage or thought behind it? How does love play a role in this holiday? Is there a family tradition that is an amazing part of your Easter experience? We’re asking for imagery of Easter, done in charcoal – powdered, pressed, vine, a beautiful combination of them all… whatever kind of charcoal you’d like to use, do it!
These pieces can be realistic, idealized, abstract, pop-art inspired, expressionist, cubist, impressionist, illustrated… whatever your style is, we want to see it because if it’s meaningful to you, it’s meaningful to God and will be meaningful to us all.
The sizes can range, but please keep them 11″x14″ or larger so if they’re on stage, they can be seen easily. Please spray the finished drawing(s) with fixatif or hairspray so they don’t smudge. These drawings need to be brought to Quest by Sunday, April 2nd. If you would like to participate or have any other questions, please contact Beth Sinak.
