Hey Quest, Kelly here! Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Three years ago, my Local School Outreach team and I reached out to Pond Elementary and Wildwood Middle School. We donated teacher snacks, volunteered at their events and helped families in need. Last year, I learned that the Assistant Principal was leaving Pond to be the new Head Principal at Babler Elementary. I was so sad because I really loved Andrea and I was going to miss working with her at Pond. Because Andrea loves her Questers (as she calls us), she pleaded with us to join her in serving families at Babler. I didn’t really know how we were going to take on another school, but I knew the Lord was saying yes to this. So really, I didn’t lose an assistant principal, I gained a whole new school!
Little did Andrea or I know, but the previous church that helped Babler was no longer available. Babler has asked us to help with their Thanksgiving and Christmas wish lists.
The counselor shared with me,
Our Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance is greatly needed to support our families in need, and I was getting worried about how we could continue. We are very grateful that you [Quest] are able to step in, as we did not have a resource for the first time in many years.”
The Lord had orchestrated all these changes to meet the needs of His people. He had gone before all of us; He knew that Babler had a need and all we had to do was say, “Yes, Lord!”
Our Christmas Compassion plan is to collect $10 gift cards to Target, Walmart, Kohls, gas stations and grocery stores. The schools will also provide us with a Wish List in a week or two with specific items that the families need. These wishes usually include towels, sheets, winter coats, cleaning supplies, personal care items and some toys and books… these wishes are a lot different than our Christmas wish lists, I bet.
Will you be like the Good Samaritan when he saw a man in need and helped him? We have 7 families in need. Will you please help?
Please donate $10 Gift Cards or purchase an item from the family’s Christmas Wish List by December 9, 2018. You can mark the gift cards with “Schools ministry” and give them directly to me or put them in the tithe box. Please mark all gifts as well and bring them UNWRAPPED to Quest and put them in the corner of the auditorium next to the Ministry Table.
