New Resolutions for 2017

Turn the page, a New Year is upon us…Welcome 2017!  With the arrival of the New Year, we often reflect on life and the past year.  We then turn to the future and come up with our list of New Year’s resolutions. I am going to eat healthier. I am going to exercise more. I am going to read more and watch television less.  And, for believers, we might have a few other New Year’s resolutions like… I am going to read my bible every day, I am going to pray more or even I am going to go to church every week.  These are all very good resolutions, and worthy of our time and effort.  But, would God have us consider adding a few more resolutions?

All through scripture, we read about serving others like the widow, orphan or poor.  God wants us to serve Him by serving others. With January being Sanctity of Human Life month, it’s an opportunity to help us focus on the value of life and consider resolutions that do the same.  Now more specifically, January 15th is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday – in recognition of the unborn.  In Proverbs 31:8, God tells us to,

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

Would we consider resolutions serving and protecting the unborn?

At Quest, we partner with Thrive St. Louis.  Their ministry helps women struggling with unexpected pregnancies by offering them hope and opportunity. They have many ways for people to serve in their ministry, both individually and corporately.

Quest is kicking off it’s Baby Shower drive this Sunday, Jan 8th.  It is an opportunity to help supply Thrive with much needed infant items for expecting moms going through Thrive’s Parent University program.  We’ll be collecting items to help stock their store where prospective parents in their University Program can get much needed supplies to help care for their new babies. Check out the complete list of donation needs here.

May our 2017 resolutions bring us closer to God and closer to others.

Peace,

Steve
