What a talented bunch of folks we have in our church! With great participation in our Saturday work days, and other volunteers throughout the week we continue to make great progress in the building renovations! Thank you Questers!
The concrete work in front of the church is now completed. Repaving and re-striping the parking lot is scheduled to be done (weather permitting) within the next two weeks. In addition to the paving work, the contractor will also reclaim the small gravel parking area along the east side of the paved lot.
A great deal of honeysuckle, and other brush has been cleared around the church and house. The large pin oak tree near the handicapped entrance ramp has been removed. Stumps have been pulled in preparation for new bushes to be planted.
A plan has been drawn for a “water garden” along the east side of the church to help control water run off from the roof.
Repainting the auditorium is well along. The demolition work in the downstairs bathrooms has been completed – reconstruction should be completed within the next two weeks. Some small sections of wallboard have replaced in the downstairs classrooms. Next week the downstairs floor is scheduled to stained and sealed in preparation for painting the downstairs walls. We will be ordering new ceiling tiles for the drop ceiling in the lower level.
We are waiting for the siding contractor to repair the church building siding. We are also waiting for the roofing contractor to replace the roof on the house. Additional contracts have been arranged for wi-fi and security systems. The final design for video and audio in the auditorium is due soon.
There are still a myriad of details to attend to. But, the progress we have made is amazing!
Work-days will continue over the next three Saturdays. Please come out to help if you can … they start at 10am and lunch is provided … stay as long as you want.
In the weeks ahead we will have lots of painting to do as well as other tasks. So, please come help if you can, and pray for safety for our workers. And, again, thanks for all of you that have helped thus far!
