Thank You for Giving to the Lord

There is a song called “Thank You,” written by Ray Boltz, that brings tears (of joy) to my eyes every time I listen to it.  The song is about someone who had a dream, and in that dream this person went to heaven with a friend.  They were walking the streets of gold and listening to the angels sing.  When suddenly, all these people (as far as the eye could see) come walking up to this friend to share how their lives were changed (in fact saved) by the friend’s service, sacrifice and prayers to the Lord. The friend was unaware, and in fact, was overwhelmed in learning of how he was used by God changed the lives of these people. The chorus for the song reads,

Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed.  Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am so glad you gave.”

It is a beautiful song and should be a reminder to all that listen, that God uses His people to reach the world.  I encourage you to listen to it sometime.

So, my point for sharing this is…”Thank you for giving to the Lord” …through your service, sacrifice and prayers to the Lord, lives are being changed.  You may not ever know, at least this side of heaven, how God will use you to impact people in our community, city or world.  That’s okay! All God wants us to do is be obedient and serve.  He will take care of the rest.

At Quest, one way we give to the Lord is through our partnership with Thrive.  It is a ministry that comes along side pregnant women with love, encouragement, counseling, training and best of all, the gospel.  Through that partnership, we support Thrive with physical supplies as well as financially with our Baby Shower, Thrive Alive and Baby Bottle Blast programs.  We also have opportunities to volunteer in several different ways with Thrive.  If God is calling you to help Thrive and would like to learn more, please contact Melissa Lay.

The last thing I want to share is that this is the last week of the Baby Bottle Blast! Don’t forget to bring your bottles back to Quest this Sunday, August 30th and drop them off in the foyer.  If you do forget, then contact Melissa Lay and coordinate your bottle drop off with her.

God Bless you and thank you for giving to the Lord!

 Peace,
Steve
